Brazil 2014 – the sadness & behind the scenes of the World Cup

People are suffering. Expulsed out of their homes, threatened and harmed, “the poor” are trying to stand strong in front of the corporations and the politicians who do not care about their well being. This short documentary is an eye opener about the ethics on which “investments” in Brazil are based upon.

Will the people, the Brazilians and those that live in the Favelas be heard?

If we are a football fan… can we look into the eyes of those who lost their homes and tell them: “My love for football and my desire of watching the games is more important than your homes and the future of your children.”?

World Cup 2014 Brazil… hidden truths

Global sport events have their moment of glory, for a few weeks nations and fans will celebrate, laugh, cry, drink, dance and party, while watching athletes and football players do their thing. Yet, have you ever asked yourself what the consequences are for the locals? Are these events build on values and ethics that support well-being, health, growth? Are these events putting more pressure on the poor and are these events taking care of those who are living in derived areas?

“Vegan-ish”, “Vegan-ist”, and those who want to be free to choose to eat meat

For those searching for a compassionate way of eating. I like that word… compassionate… This is how I want to approach the way I consume food.

One thing that will stay with me from watching this documentary is: “can I look into the eyes of a living being and tell them that their suffering and their fear is less important than my appetite?”. Food for thought, and choices for food… Oprah’s shows are inspiring as always.

Let us be more aware of the hidden truths behind our food and let us make more informed choices as consumers to stop this inhumane and horrendous cycle of… phyiscal, emotional and social death.

Disturbing.  A very disturbing documentary about very poor Indian women who become surrogate mums for desperate couples from the West.  A business that is now blooming.  From Western couples who genuinely desire a child, to those who just wait for the delivery of their “order”… from the emotional pains of Indian pregnant women leaving their families behind for 9 months, to the realisation of their dreams and a possible better future for their beloved ones… this documentary will leave a print in your hearts and in your mind.

Life and Debt – Documentary about Jamaica

Life and Debt is a 2001 American documentary film directed by Stephanie Black. It examines the economic and social situation in Jamaica, and specifically the impact  of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank’s globalization policies.  The full documentary has been deleted from Youtube but I can only highly recommend you rent or buy it somewhere online.  It’s an eye-opening story of what we call today… post-colonisation.  Jamaica isn’t the only country that is economically exploited… but here is a concrete example of what many countries and people go through.
